Recently, we had the pleasure to restore an old beloved Spirit House which the owner got from Thailand over 20 years ago.
Worn out and tired over the years of rain, sunshine, and wind, this old girl was badly in need of a makeover, but the owner could hardly find anyone who would be willing to take on the job.
We were hesitant at first, due to the intricacy and how delicate the job was. But because this was a very special piece to the owner, we decided to agree to the job.
We started out with some chemical cleaning. This is to gently remove the old paint and years of dust and grime collected by the spirit house over the years.
We then followed up with gluing the pieces together and delicately sanding off the old wood.
We built a brand new based made of solid timber. This would give the house a stronger base to stand on as its very heavy and durable for the weather, making it difficult to topple over.
With a new coat of finishing, this Spirit House was ready to make its way home. It has been truly a delight to see the joy in the owner whose beloved member of the family is now ready to serve again for another few decades.
