At Les Succari, we believe in sustainability and creating furniture that lasts for generations. That's why when a good friend of ours came to us to help refurbish a beloved cabinet in the family, we were happy to oblige.
Having served the family for decades, the wood is clearly visibly 'tired', but she still had some spirit in her.
We kept the interiors as it was, keeping them white, and repainted them so it looks like new.
We then sanded down the cabinet and gave it new doors made of local Nyatoh wood. The panels on the sides of the cabinets were also replaced with Cherry veneer, giving it a classy and elegant feel that also compliments the interiors.
To replace the handles, we've hand carved them using the same type of wood, with the style of 'Buttons' for that whimsical and timeless look on the cabinet. We've also updated the cabinet doors with soft closing hinges, which will lessen the damage to the furniture.
It is truly satisfying to see the transformation of this family cabinet. Just like us humans, furniture too requires some maintenance, TLC, and every once in a while, a full-on makeover. You can tell when a house is a happy home when even the furniture is cared for, and you don't have to buy new furniture to replace them.
